The Vibration of Nature – Flowers, Happiness, and Well-Being

(an excerpt from my book How to Raise the Vibration around You)

The allure of flowers. Perhaps you like the vibrant color? Maybe it’s the fragrance that captures your attention, or could it simply be an aesthetically pleasing visual break from looking at your computer screen, TV or cell phone? Whatever the attraction, flowers can enhance your home or work by adding natural charm and beauty.

The Happiness Effect

Bringing flowers indoors also causes a “happiness effect.” Having flowers in the home or office is soothing, which naturally reduces stress, which ultimately, help us to feel more relaxed, secure and happy!

There are hundreds of studies conducted on the effect ornamental plants and flowers have on our mood, stress levels and behavior. One study by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Uppsala University in Sweden found that potted plants in offices can reduce fatigue, headaches, and stress and that the more plants a worker could see, the fewer sick days they took.

In a Washington State University study whereby workers were given timed computer tasks to complete in rooms with plants and then without plants, researchers found that the workers were 12% more productive and had quicker reaction times when there were plants in the room. They were also less stressed with lower blood pressure.

Plants and flowers can also be healing. Have you heard of the term horticulture therapy? I like to think of it as nature taking care of us when we take care of nature. Some hospitals have introduced horticulture therapy to their patients. It’s a technique whereby patients care for and nurture plants as a means to reduce their recovery time. Physicians observed that patients who physically interact with plants have a significantly reduced recovery time after medical procedures than those who don’t interact with plants.

Who knew that such small, unassuming flowers and ornamental plants not only raise the vibration of your living space with fragrance, color and visual stimulation, but they also help raise your vibrational frequency? Plants and flowers increase levels of positive energy, which help us achieve a more positive outlook on life, counteract stress and facilitate healing.

Allow your intuition to guide you in selecting flowers that make you feel good—flowers that you are naturally attracted to. The greater your attraction, the more relaxing and soothing they will make you feel, and they will have a pleasant effect on your living and workspaces.
